Swimming Pool Maintenance and Care Is Swimmingly Easy!
Swimming pool maintenance and care is “swimmingly” easy when
you follow the tips and advice from experts. A swimming pool
can be a big responsibility, because you want the water to
be crystal clear and sanitized when it’s time to go
swimming. The last thing you want is pool water that isn’t
clean and safe, which is why there are many chemicals,
filtration systems and pool vacuums available to make
maintenance easy.
Swimming pool maintenance and care tasks can be divided into
daily, weekly and periodic activities. Daily activities are
designed to insure the pool water is always ready for a
quick dip or a long swim and include testing water balances.
The weekly maintenance tasks insure algae don’t invade the
pool water or the pool itself and keeps the water clear. The
periodic activities focus on equipment, filter and pump
maintenance.
Swimming Pool Maintenance and Care
Daily activities begin with testing the water to make sure
the water is sanitized and doesn’t become too alkaline. As a
pool owner, you have measuring devices that will tell you
the levels in the water so you know if you need to add
chemicals. If you must adjust the pH or alkaline levels,
you’ll add chemicals per the instructions that come with the
chemicals to restore the right balances.
The weekly duties of swimming pool maintenance and care
tasks include adding chlorine if necessary. The chlorine
kills bacteria and microbes that could make the water
unhealthy. In addition, chemicals are added to prevent the
likelihood of algae growing in the pool. Finally, you will
also need to add chemicals that prevent the water from
getting cloudy. This step is called clarifying the water.
Some swimming pool maintenance and care must be done as
needed. For example, the filter system must be cleaned
regularly to make sure it doesn’t get clogged with debris
that could rot. The filter system is part of the pump. There
is usually a larger filter basket also that must be
regularly emptied of leaves and larger debris that make it
into the pool.
You can use a pool vacuum to pick up any debris that floats
to the bottom of the pool. The debris is pulled into the
larger filter basket so it can be removed as part of the
maintenance routine. You can use a skimmer to pick up leaves
and insects that float on the top of the water. Don’t forget
to keep your trees and bushes trimmed around the pool too.
That will keep debris that reaches the pool to a minimum.
Swimming pool maintenance and care also requires regular
cleaning of the deck and surrounding pool area. You want
concrete to be free of mold, algae and bacteria. Learning
how to care for a swimming pool is not hard, but it does
take some instruction in how to maintain the water balances
and how to keep the water clear. |
