Just My Style! Custom Kitchen Cook Top Ventilation

When you remodel your kitchen or build a new house, you have a choice of custom kitchen cook top ventilation units. It wasn’t that long ago cook top ventilation systems were eyesores in the kitchen and hard to clean. That's changed with the addition of various styles of ventilation systems that enhance, rather than detract from, the appearance of the kitchen appliances and décor.

There used to be only one basic style for a kitchen cook top ventilation system – the stove hood. It was simple and did the job, but wasn't very attractive. It was also hard to clean and tended to get very greasy.

Now there's a variety of choices for custom kitchen cook top ventilation that are easy to maintain. They not only have improved the operational design of the ventilation systems, the styling is attractive and less intrusive.

Custom Kitchen Cook Top Ventilation

The old hoods used for cook top ventilation used to sound like airplanes taking off when you flipped the switch. The new systems are quieter and work much more efficiently. When you remodel your home, you should consider the various alternatives to the traditional cook top ventilation hood.

Custom kitchen cook top ventilation designs include the following:

Downdraft or countertop hoods are installed flat next to the burners on a cook top. The air is vented downward through a grease trap. These kinds of hoods are ideal for a kitchen island or where it's difficult to install an overhead hood.

Chimney hoods are designed to either be hung from the ceiling or the wall. Ceiling chimney hoods are often installed over an island cook top. There's another style of chimney hood that can be hung against the wall and can be installed anywhere in the kitchen.

The slide out custom kitchen cook top ventilation system is a space saver and makes it possible to hide the hood when you don't need it. The hood is only fully visible while cooking.

Of course, the standard hood is still available and often is the most inexpensive hood making it affordable when you're on a budget.

When you are planning your kitchen remodel, the custom kitchen cook top ventilation system you prefer can impact your choice of appliances and cabinet design. You must also know how to install the proper ductwork so your hood vents properly. If you are doing your own remodel, make sure you understand the hood installation requirements before starting your remodel.

There are other features to consider when purchasing a custom kitchen cook top ventilation system. Some hood fans turn on automatically every time you use the cook top. On others you have to turn the switch on before the fan begins blowing.

Also, make sure you buy a custom kitchen cook top ventilation system that has a powerful enough blower for the size of the cook top and the kitchen.
